What Is Pear Deck and What is it used for?



Pear Deck is a Google Slides add-on designed to help teachers create engaging slide show-style content for the classroom and for remote learning. Since this is Google-integrated, it allows teachers to create or edit presentations right there from within their own Google account.

The best place to start would be to use the Pear Deck add-on to convert existing PowerPoint or Google Slides presentations to Pear Deck lessons. It's some work up front, but the payoff in student engagement is worth it. Add in a Pear Deck question slide or template to review a concept from a previous lesson, gather student questions or feedback about last night's homework, or introduce today's lesson with a question or problem. During a lesson, pepper in multiple-choice, true/false, and thumbs-up/-down questions, and quickly gauge whether or not you need to reteach a concept. These check-ins can also be used as discussion starters when talking about daily routines, current events, or reactions to class content. At the close of a lesson, see how well your students understood the content with an exit ticket. You can use any type of slide for these, but short-answer or number slides are good open-ended ways to assess understanding.

 What is Kahoot? What is Kahoot is a website that makes the repetition of the topics covered in the lessons more enjoyable thanks to the joint use of components such as mobile phones, computers, tablets and smart boards. The aim here is to learn in a fun way and to reinforce the course content. You can find content on many courses and topics on the site, or you can also prepare and use a re-exam (quiz) if you want. To summarize, it is an application for interactive online quizzes. Another alternative to Kahoot is Quizizz. In order to use the Kahoot application, we need to create an account. To create a new membership , let's click on the sign up link on the homepage of the Kahoot website . Since we need an account to create Kahoots, let's choose the link as a teacher. After completing your quizzes, your students just need to open any internet browser on their device, connect to kahoot.it and enter the quiz code and names. What is Storybird? Storybird is a free book creation site. Although its interface is in English, it is very easy to use and is a useful educational tool especially for language teachers such as Turkish, English and German. Students can read created books; They can write their own books, stories and poems. How to use? To read any book published on the Storybird site, it is sufficient to click on the "READ" category at the top when you first enter the site and choose one of the books that appear. If there is a projector or smart board in the classroom, you can easily find a book on the site and read it as a class. However, an account is required to create a book. One of the nice things about it is that the teacher can open an account, create a class, and invite students with the class code. Even parents can be included if desired.
